Director of Human Resources

ProHire Network and Atoll Career is recruiting an experienced Director of Human Resources for the pre-opening of an ultra-luxury resort in the Maldives.

This is a senior Executive Committee position responsible for establishing and leading the complete Human Resources function during pre-opening and transitioning the department successfully into resort operations.

The Director of Human Resources will work closely with the General Manager and Executive Committee to develop the people strategy, organisational structure, manpower plan and HR framework while ensuring full compliance with Maldivian employment requirements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Establish the complete HR function and strategy for the pre-opening resort
• Develop the organisational structure and pre-opening manpower plan
• Lead recruitment, selection, onboarding and mobilisation of the pre-opening workforce
• Ensure HR practices comply with Maldivian employment legislation and company standards
• Coordinate expatriate employment documentation and work-permit processes with the relevant teams
• Develop and implement HR policies, procedures, SOPs and employee guidelines
• Build a strong employee culture aligned with the positioning and service standards of an ultra-luxury resort
• Lead employee relations, performance management, engagement and retention initiatives
• Oversee learning & development, succession planning and leadership development
• Support the development and progression of Maldivian talent
• Oversee colleague welfare and employee facilities, including staff accommodation and other colleague services
• Partner closely with the General Manager, Executive Committee and department heads throughout the pre-opening process
• Ensure a smooth transition from pre-opening into full resort operations

• Proven experience as a Director of Human Resources / Director of People & Culture within a luxury or ultra-luxury hotel or resort
• Strong luxury resort pre-opening experience
• Previous Maldives resort HR experience is highly preferred
• Strong working knowledge of the Maldives Employment Act and applicable employment regulations
• Good understanding of Maldives Immigration and expatriate employment processes, including work permits and required employment documentation
• Proven experience managing both Maldivian and expatriate employees within a multicultural workforce
• Strong experience in manpower planning, budgeting, organisational structure and large-scale pre-opening recruitment
• Experience establishing HR policies, SOPs, employee handbooks, contracts, job descriptions and HR systems for a new opening
• Strong knowledge of employee relations, disciplinary and grievance procedures, performance management and colleague engagement
• Experience supporting Maldivian talent development and localisation initiatives
• Strong understanding of colleague welfare and the operational requirements of a remote island resort environment
• Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder-management skills
• Fluent English communication is essential
